Vocal Music at UVA
VOICE LESSONS AT UVA:
Music instruction is offered for credit on all instruments and voice; registration takes place at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. For information on ensemble performance opportunities in the department, visit our auditions website. Grades for private instruction are calculated in your GPA and will appear on your UVA transcript. Full-time UVA students may apply the credit hours from music lessons to their degree program, however, you may only apply up to 16 music performance credits (including all MUBD, MUEN, and MUPF courses) toward the 120 hours required for graduation.
The University of Virginia Department of Music holds placement auditions for study with members of the Classical / Music Theater Voice Faculty. Vocal auditions are held for placement purposes and are reviewed by members of the Classical/ Music Theater Voice Faculty. You are welcome to request a particular teacher (space provided on your completed audition form) and we will do our best to honor all such requests. Biographical listings for all voice faculty can be found at http://music.virginia.edu/faculty/lessons. Contact the Vocal Coordinator, Pamela Beasley at [email protected] to be assigned an audition time slot!
